Collagen Induction Therapy

Collagen Induction Therapy

What is Collagen Induction therapy?

Collagen induction therapy, also known by many names including microneedling, is a very minimally invasive treatment and refers to the act of inserting tiny needles into the skin to trigger your skin’s self-repair process. This process involves stimulating your skin to release growth factors and produce new collagen and elastin bonds, healing your skin and helping your skin to look fresher and younger.

What does the procedure involve?

Collagen induction therapy is performed by using a roller or pen-type device to create micro puncture channels on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s own repair and renewal process to create collagen and elastin. At Dr Allan Aesthetics, we only use the best quality and safest medical devices available on the market. This is why we use Dermapen®4 for our collagen induction therapy. In conjunction with Dermapen®4 microneedling, we also apply specially designed MesoGlide solutions which contain active ingredients such as vitamins and peptides to treat different skin conditions to optimise healing and give your skin enhanced results. Occasionally, we incorporate Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) as a glide solution for specific treatments such as vampire facial, hair loss or scar treatments.

What is Dermapen®4?

Dermapen®4 is the ultimate in advanced and innovative dermal needling and is the most widely used dermal needling system worldwide. It is a highly specialised instrument that contains very fine surgical needles that creates micro-puncture across the treated area. This process effectively promotes natural collagen and elastin production which helps skin tightening, lifting and rejuvenating. It is used to improve skin texture, keep the skin smooth and free from blemishes over time.

At Dr Allan Aesthetics, we are proud that Dermapenworld has acknowledged our clinic as a Gold authorised Dermapen treatment provider. By selecting a Dermapen Gold ATP clinic such as ours, it will ensure you’re not only choosing superior results, you’re guaranteed to be in safe hands with a quality device, protocol skin infusion products and advanced safety standards.

What conditions can Dermapen®4 Microneedling treat?

Dermapen®4 can be used to help address many skin concerns, including:

Moreover, Collagen Induction Therapy or microneedling is also an incredibly effective way to improve effectiveness of topical products and supercharge your skincare. This is because microneedling creates multiple micro puncture channels on your skin, allowing active ingredients to penetrate more easily and deeply below the skin’s surface. Post-therapy is a great time to apply serums, moisturisers and anti-ageing treatments to help make the most of their protective and regenerative abilities.

What sort of results will I get from Dermapen®4 Microneedling?

One thing you’ll need to know is that like most transformations, the results aren’t immediate. Your skin will be glowing and a little plump and pink right after your treatment, but since your body needs to create the fresh new collagen, the real outcome will come a couple of months later. You’ll get best results when you do a few treatments, ideally between three and six once every month or so, for the ultimate skin rejuvenation.

Another thing to consider is that all microneedling treatments are not created equal, and some pens and techniques yield lesser results. Dermapen is the original and most trusted microneedling brand, designed in Australia with an improved version every few years, leading us to the latest model, the Dermapen®4. This device is safer than ever, with an anti-contamination mechanism and an increased amount of smaller, faster-moving needles than other devices, meaning less pain and more gain.

Are there side effects to the treatment?

The most common side effect post treatment is facial redness and possibly localised skin irritation after the treatment, but this will tend to subside within a day or two. Rarer side effects include skin infection (the risk is negated if you and the clinic are following strict protocols, and you adhere to the aftercare advice), and swelling, although any swelling is usually minor. The risk of infection is minimal as devices typically use sterilised medical grade stainless steel.

How much does the treatment cost?

Pricing for the Dermapen®4 treatment depends primarily on the area you wish to receive microneedling on and whetherspecially designed MesoGlide solutions or PRP are used. For more details, pricing, please refer to our pricing page.

How many sessions are required to maximise collagen production?

How many treatments required will depend on the appearance of the condition you are hoping to treat and to some extent, the body parts you are treating. Deeper fine lines and wrinkles and prominent scarring will require more treatments. Results will start to be effective after a single treatment but most patients will require 3-6 sessions over the entire treatment area. The practitioner will be able to estimate based on the appearance.
