Anti-wrinkle Injections

What is anti-wrinkle injection?

The term ‘anti-wrinkle injection’ is usually referred to Botulinum Toxin Type A (more commonly known as Botox®). It is the protein complex derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. Therefore, it is not chemicals that are being injected into your skin. Our daily facial expression when we smile, frown, laugh, squint creates dynamic wrinkles which deepen as we age and eventually become static wrinkles. Botulinum Toxin relaxes the muscles under the skin by blocking nerve activity in the muscles. Hence, when botulinum toxin is being injected, it inhabits the contraction of the muscles making them more relaxed resulting in a more youthful appearance with reduced fine lines and wrinkles.

One of the keys to retain youthful appearance is to treat dynamic wrinkles with botulinum toxin early before they form static wrinkles. Many clients these days start receiving anti-wrinkle treatments at younger age as a preventative measure.

The most common facial areas for anti-wrinkle treatments are frown lines, crows feet, forehead, and eyebrow lift. Anti-wrinkle injections can also be used to address other types of facial concerns and functional issues. For example, migraines and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). There are a lot more we can do with anti-wrinkle injections but under the Medical Council rules they cannot be ‘advertised’ on a website as they are considered ‘off-label indications’ of a prescription medicine.

At Dr Allan Aesthetics, our anti-wrinkle treatments are tailored on a patient-by-patient basis to achieve stunning and natural look without looking ‘frozen’.

How much do anti-wrinkle treatments cost & what are units?

Most commonly, anti-wrinkle treatments are priced per ‘unit’ – just think of this as the quantity of product used. This can be a confusing concept, especially for those new to injectables. You also need to be aware that different brands of anti-wrinkle treatment come in different units so it can be difficult to compare different brands or clinics. This is why you need to have a consultation first to understand what your needs are, how strong your muscles and your particular pattern of lines. Having said that, to give you a rough idea of the cost please check out our pricing.

Below are estimated prices for common antiwrinkle treatments:

Frown line: average dose required 20units = $340.
Smile lines/crows feet: average dose required 8-12 units = $136-$204.
Forehead lines: average dose required 8-15units = $136-$255.
